Looking for a new gig

Aloha kahako! It’s Monday and it’s my last week in this internship, provided by the wonderful people at ACI Hawaii and GameDevHQ! I can say I’m a bit timid by what lies a head but, excited to move on.

I can say whole heartedly, that I’m so appreciative to have had this opportunity. It’s brought a distant world within arms reach, for an islander that never thought he’d be doing anything, but keeping smiles on visitors that plague his home. 🤣 For real though, to get out of the customer service world and move on to the next chapter of my life, I owe thanks to this experience.

I was already on my way to coding. I dabbled here and there but, GameDevHQ really did instill a sort of independence. Most of all to learn Unity and add it to my repertoire. I’ve only gone through the 2D Space Shooter Course and am currently wrapping up the Cinematography Course. But, I see a lot of value in continuing my journey and documenting it. I really am excited to make an FPS (First Person Shooter) and learning 3D mechanics. I love art and during this experience have got into drawing sprites because, I see the value in creating your own assets. I also am looking forward to adding some of my own music to future projects so, there’s a lot on my plate.

Like I said it’s my last week and Johnathan has been cool enough to let those that are leaving, spend a little time inquiring about work. Not sure there’s too much to inquire about here in Hawaii. Tourism is slowly getting back to normal but, a for seeable increase in Covid cases and the Keiki inevitably being stuck at home limits options. So, I’m just focusing on my studies and keeping my eyes and ears open for anything that comes into view. Until then I’ll be here doing my thang. Thanks for reading up! Happy coding, much love and aloha
